Because of my last mission, I was promoted to Enchanter. Heros, my mentor, promised me a spell of the third circle, but I haven't yet decided which one to choose. I feel I better make my choice soon though before he changes his mind. While I was playing my bamboo flute in a tree near MC Viper's house at the party a few nights ago, Katrina the pixie flew by to listen. I noticed her to be the pixie that brought Greegan to my hometown right before we explored Barrik's Keep, so long ago. Greegan was actually sleeping right below as Katrina and I talked. She told me she would transport me back to Glantri City via pixie dust to meet Heros and get the third circle spell I'm entitled to.
Katrina kept her word and the next day, I was flying there with Splinter at my side. I stopped off at towns to rest, of course, and noticed many burned churches along the way. Splinter took it upon himself to ask the villagers about the churches. They told him Whata Slut the chaotic Bishop was to blame. When I got to Glantri City I went to my house to find it looted! Some of my furniture was gone, but luckily they left my bed so I could sleep that night. Splinter slept on the floor and reported the crime to a guard the next day. The guard informed us that a bunch of thieves had been looting and kidnapping people for ransom around the city.
When I went to Heros' home, he was gone. It seems he too was kidnapped for ransom. There were signs of a struggle and dead bodies of thieves. Splinter found out that Heros was not one of the villagers on the ransom list. The mayor informed us that trained stirges bring lists of people stolen and the amount of gold that must be paid for their return. Apparently the gold is being given to a cyclops a few miles from the city and then the cyclops tells where the kidnapped person is. The guards cannot defeat the cyclops and even if they did, it wouldn't help.
I suppose I should do something about this. I don't think it's probably a good idea to wait and see if Heros ends up on the ransom list, but I may have no choice. I think I will pay this cyclops a visit tomorrow and see what I can do. At least I have my Stone of Commanding Earth Elementals that I won from the magic merchant. I'll draw up some more plans tomorrow if I'm ever going to get my spell from Heros.
